Some people, who want to help others, suggest that a person should distract themselves from difficulties, focus on other issues, or bury themselves in work or play in order to avoid distressful feelings. However, happiness is a feeling! Thus, you cannot get there if you avoid or suppress your feelings. Unless you’re willing to be aware of all of your feelings, experience them, and share them with others you are never going to find real happiness. This, the goal is to feel, not avoid feelings.
